Dear Customers of SAP Business One 8.8x (or lower),
It has been more than 5 years since SAP mainstream maintenance has ceased for your version of SAP Business One.
In March 2020, SAP released version 10 with many new capabilities. Here are some of the key reasons why you should upgrade now!
Why upgrade now?
1. End of mainstream maintenance
Mainstream maintenance for SAP Business One 8.82 ceased in July 2015. This means there are no further support packs, patches, hotfixes, or new features for this version. In the event of any technical or database issues with your SAP system, you may have to upgrade before SAP or Inecom can resolve the issue. From a business continuity perspective, this presents a risk.
2. New key features and functions since SAP Business One 8.82
Since version 8.8, there have been significant advances in the SAP Business One solution features.
Here are just some of the highlights from versions 9.0, 9.1, 9.2, 9.3 and 10.
- SAP Business One web client.
- Office 365 integration.
- Inventory management – bin location, multiple UOM and serial & batch numbers.
- Mobile apps for sales, service engineers and managers.
- Project management – including interactive project Gantt chart.
- Production routing.
- Import from Excel.
- Approval procedure enhancements.
- Prices update wizard.
- Blanket agreements enhancements.
3. Compatibility with latest Microsoft software and security protection
Version 8.8 was released in 2011 and it is compatible with Microsoft Office 2010 and Windows Server 2008. When you purchase new hardware and Microsoft applications now, you will have to downgrade the systems software for compatibility with your installed SAP version.
Another area of concern is the protection against viruses, ransomware and hackers. Older versions of Windows Server and Microsoft Office have known vulnerabilities. If you downgrade to the older Windows and Office software, you are unable to protect your systems effectively as they do not have the necessary security patches.
4. Promotional discount for SAP licenses
SAP is a named-user licensing software. Some of your employees may be sharing one SAP user license in your current version. While it is technically possible to do so, this is not allowed contractually.
If you are on SAP version 8.8x or below, SAP is offering 20% discount on the SAP licenses. This offer is valid until 31st May 2020.
